Charlton Athletic technical director Andy Scott has revealed that Thierry Small has been offered a new ‘long-term’ deal.
Charlton Athletic have offered the defender new terms in an attempt to keep him.

Small, 19, joined the League One club this winter and has since made a good impact.

According to London News Online, Scott stated: “I’ve had a couple of conversations with his agents, and we’ve made him a new offer, a long-term deal that he and his agents are considering.” If that does not happen by the time we need to exercise the option, we will activate it and resume the negotiations.”

Keeping Small would be a significant boost for Charlton Athletic as they prepare for next season.

Nathan Jones will want to see his Addicks compete at the top of the table.

He worked with Small at Southampton and decided to bring him to The Valley in early February to strengthen his defensive departure.
However, the teenager only signed a contract until the summer, with the club having the option to keep him for another year.

Since joining Charlton Athletic, Small has made 14 league appearances, helping the club escape relegation in the third division.

He was on the books at West Brom and Everton before going to Southampton.
The Solihull native went on to make one first-team appearance for St Mary’s before being loaned to Port Vale and St Mirren to gain experience.

He spent the first half of the season with the latter in the Scottish Premiership, playing six games before returning to his parent club in January.

Southampton then ended their relationship permanently by mutual consent, and he has since moved to Charlton Athletic.

They fell away to Wycombe Wanderers over the weekend and are already planning for next season, hoping to keep Small.
