According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are close to signing a new contract with Alexander Isak ahead of the summer transfer season.

According to Luke Edwards, the club ‘would not entertain any idea of him leaving’ and is ‘likely’ to announce a new enhanced contract for the Swedish striker in the ‘coming few weeks.’

The 24-year-old has four years left on his current contract after signed a six-year deal with St James’ Park in August 2022. However, the club is eager to reward his outstanding performance, position him alongside top earner Bruno Guimaraes, and build around the attacker ahead of a key summer for the club.

This would also send a clear ‘not for sale’ message to the huge list of interested parties who are still likely to make bids for Isak in an attempt to unsettle our star player.
However, with the man himself just stating how pleased he is on Tyneside and devoted to the cause he signed up for two years ago, a new contract will be another step in the right way and precisely what his excellent form merits after 23 goals in all competitions this season.
Speaking after Isak’s brace on Saturday, Howe stated, “I think he’s world class. I’m not sitting around evaluating all the other strikers in the world, but the most important thing is that I wouldn’t trade him for anyone.”

“When you look at his age profile and what is to come, his attributes and qualities, he is exceptional. It’s unfortunate for me and possibly for Alex that there are concerns regarding his future. I understand why the questions are being posed, and the better he performs, the more goals he scores. That will be something [asked], but we should simply enjoy his performances and the way he is now performing.”
