Since being placed on the disabled list on April 22, the Cleveland Guardians have been without their starting center fielder, Lane Thomas.

After being struck by a pitch on April 8, he sustained a bone bruise in his right wrist, which he is currently tending to.

It was disclosed this week that Thomas began his swing evolution with a comeback in mind.

It improves: Stephen Vogt, the manager of the Guardians, provided a promising report on the player on Friday.

“Cleveland OF Lane Thomas (wrist) is “pain-free” and he is currently working on building back strength according to manager Stephen Vogt. He should begin a rehab assignment next week,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

Even though things are going well without Thomas, it is great news for a Guardians club that needs depth.

However, it doesn’t mean he isn’t required, and provided there aren’t any unforeseen events or delays, he will be able to begin his rehabilitation next week.

The 2024 playoff hero has every incentive to return and post the best numbers possible because he will be a free agency at the end of the season.

He was having some trouble at the plate before he went down a few weeks ago, most likely due to the wrist injury.

He batted a pitiful.0 in 13 games and 48 plate opportunities with the Guards. 156/.188/.178 with a wRC+ value of 1.

Indeed, one as in one.

Although it’s clear that a healthy Thomas can be a little better than average hitter and runner, it’s unclear if the wrist injury will have an impact on his power when he plays again.

The fact that he is getting closer to making a comeback is all that counts for now.
