The professional career of one of Notre Dame’s top defensive lineman in recent years has taken a knock. Officially, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has already been suspended for the 2025 season. This comes after he missed a significant amount of the 2024 season due to the same ailment, which will prevent him from playing again until at least 2026.
While playing for the Cleveland Browns in late October, the former Fighting Irish great had a serious and frightening neck injury. Everyone in the stadium stopped and stared for a few minutes since it was one of those injuries. Even worse, Owusu-Kormoah posted a “all is well” statement on social media the next day.
Ex-Notre Dame football great Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah shut down for 2025 as neck injury clouds NFL future
It turns out that it was a fairly serious injury, even if the greatest concerns of Notre Dame football fans were not realized and he was not paralyzed or seriously injured in any other way. The club declared JOK’s placement on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Monday afternoon. He won’t return at all this season due to the neck injury he sustained in that October game, they stated.
Even worse than that, the Browns’ official release was unimpressive for “after 2025.”
“Even though Jeremiah won’t be playing this season, our squad fully supports him and expects him to be involved with the organization. We don’t currently have any predictions about Jeremiah’s football future, but we do know that he’s in a good mood and will continue to follow the guidance of the top medical professionals who will continue to monitor his development and recuperation.”

Until the injury heals sufficiently for him to return to the field, the former Notre Dame football star will have to remain patient.
