Head coach Mark Pope was seen in Philadelphia on Wednesday morning to see 6-foot-7 point guard Dink Pate play for the Westchester Knicks against the Delaware Blue Coats, suggesting that Kentucky is interested in Pate.

Pate, who was first recruited in 2023, has played in the NBA G-League for the past three years, making turns with Ignite, Mexico City Capitanes, and now Westchester. The almost 20-year-old has gained recognition due to his size, skill at creating plays, and professional competition experience.

Dink Pate's Top Plays Of The Season So Far

In 2023, Pate was the youngest professional basketball player in American history while playing for Kentucky assistant coach Jason Hart. If he chooses to play collegiate basketball in 2026–2027, the Wildcats might be a perfect choice because of that relationship.

In January, Pate told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+, “I’m going to college, but I’m not set in stone on any school.” “I want to go to the UK if they like me.” I want to serve as a representative. Coach Hart is someone I know. My boyfriend is that. My guy is that. I will fit into any system if they play professional basketball. I’ll put forth a lot of effort for whatever.

Fans of Kentucky are now closely monitoring Pate’s circumstances, which might give the Wildcats’ roster a distinctive twist if he is eligible for the upcoming campaign. He is a high-upside potential for Mark Pope’s program because of his professional background and relationship to the present coaching staff.
