I am aware that a lot of people have predicted that Mike Trout will join the Philadelphia Phillies if he is ever dealt.
Given that Trout is from the Philadelphia region and the Phillies have been searching for a right-handed outfielder in recent years, I can definitely see it happening. Although it appears to be a perfect fit, I believe some people are overlooking other Major League Baseball organizations that would be interested in hiring him.
As absurd as it may sound to some, I genuinely believe that the Atlanta Braves are a National League East side that might benefit from him just as much as Philadelphia.
The most recent story is that Trout might be moved, and I’m interested to see whether Atlanta is involved.
“Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels should definitely part ways. Executives and scouts think Trout will waive the whole no-trade provision in his 12-year, $426.5 million contract in order to join a contender this season. The 34-year-old Trout has little playing time remaining, and the 23-39 Angels are once again in the AL West basement. According to Pat Ragazzo, Trout has four more seasons left on his contract, totaling almost $150 million.
With a record of 42-21 this season, the Braves are the greatest team in Major League Baseball and are performing at a very high level.
Their injuries and capacity to win games at this level are still up for debate, though. That doesn’t mean they can’t, but the Braves have some shortcomings, including the need for another right-handed batter, and their injuries could eventually catch up with them.
There is some merit to Trout’s history of injuries, but if the Los Angeles Angels are prepared to absorb a portion of his salary and Atlanta is willing to take a chance on his injury history, this could be a move that causes a lot of controversy in Major League Baseball.
