The San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles will play a three-game series starting at Camden Yards on Friday.

The Padres started the second week of June with a much-needed series victory over the Cincinnati Reds after losing four straight series in a run that saw them lose 11 of 13 games.

After a difficult run of games, the Padres will need to keep pulling themselves out of a hole now that they are back in second place in the National League West.

San Diego has relied on its pitching staff to find ways to win games while they have been looking for a reliable offense. In the team’s next series against the Orioles, their pitchers will need to maintain their sharpness.

Padres vs Reds Pitching Probables

A.J. Preller, president of baseball operations, signed a number of experienced players this summer, including Canning, who has had a terrible 2026 season. Since making his season debut at the start of May, the right-hander has pitched 32.2 innings with a 6.34 ERA and 33 strikeouts.

Orioles right-hander Baz, who has a 4.09 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 77 innings thrown, will face Canning. In his last four outings, he has given up two runs or fewer, including just one run in three of them.

Saturday, June 13: RHP Randy Vasquez vs. TBA

The starting lineup for the Orioles’ game against the Padres on Saturday at Camden Yards has not yet been revealed. In the second game of the road series against the Friars, Vasquez will be on the hill.

The Padres will need a good performance from the right-hander over the weekend because he has been one of the most dependable starts this season but has recently faltered. In 2026, he pitched 69.1 innings with a 3.63 ERA and 53 strikeouts.

With a 4.29 ERA in his last seven starts, Vasquez hasn’t been as effective. Given San Diego’s lackluster offense, the right-hander must limit the damage as much as possible because the Padres will need him to fend off the Orioles lineup in this series.

Sunday, June 14: RHP Walker Buehler vs. LHP Trevor Rogers

Buehler was one of Preller’s several veteran offseason additions, similar to Canning. The right-hander has been in the rotation since making the Opening Day roster, but it was unclear if he would succeed.

This season, Buehler has pitched 62.1 innings with a 4.33 ERA and 53 strikeouts. His previous seven appearances have been better, with an overall score of 3.62.

In Sunday’s series finale, Rogers will start for the Orioles. With 44 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched, the left-hander has a 6.15 ERA. In two of his most recent starts, he has allowed three or more runs.
