The Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis megatranship shocked the NBA just over a year ago. And now, in what seems like no time at all, there are rumors of another transaction involving the former Kentucky star that could be just as crazy.
In 2012, Davis guided the Cats to a national championship; in 2020, he won it all again as a Los Angeles Laker. The Golden State Warriors are looking to pair Davis with LeBron James and Stephen Curry in the west, so even though his body has lagged due to almost continual injury problems, the big man may be in for his wildest career transition to yet.
Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo! Sports submitted the shocking report. The world might have split in two if this had happened in 2018; despite Davis’ difficulties, the news is nevertheless thrilling.
Over the course of the last four NBA seasons, Davis has missed 135 regular-season games due to various injuries, including 62 games last season. Davis’ tenure as a Maverick in Dallas was short-lived as he was traded to the Washington Wizards in February when Nico Harrison, the executive who made the trade, was dismissed.

The one possible hangup for this crazy situation is in Washington, where O’Connor claims the Wizards have every intention of keeping Davis around.
Washington Could Block the Curry/James/Davis Move
Wizards general manager Will Dawkins stated last week on ESPN’s draft program that Davis “wants to be here [Washington],” as O’Connor pointed out. We want him to be here. Unless Davis’ contract talks break down in August or he is dealt in the interim, that will undoubtedly deflate the balloon.
However, according to O’Connor, the Warriors want to find a way to acquire Davis and then use that power to get James, who hasn’t yet agreed to return to Los Angeles. Jimmy Butler would reportedly be part of the deal despite his own contract expiring and his injury problems.
Yes, that Warriors group would have been a fantastic team ten years ago, but now? Curry, who is 38, recently hit his lowest three-point percentage since the 2021–2022 season, falling below the 40% line; Davis, once more, is unable to maintain his health; and James will turn 42 in December. When you combine all of that, you have a team that may have more questions than answers.
Potential Roster Problems
Beyond attempting to bolster the roster with free agents prepared to sign for the minimum salary, who would the Warriors sign? There are players available, but the Lakers’ problem with LeBron over the last few seasons has been precisely that. Even though the idea is intriguing, it almost seems destined to fail.
Both Curry and LeBron are nearing the end of one of the most illustrious careers in NBA history. From a fan’s point of view, it is quite alluring to pair the two for one final championship run before they retire.
Will it be successful? No one knows, but you can’t blame Golden State for deliberately attempting to pull off one of the most bizarre weddings the league has ever witnessed. It would be particularly entertaining to have one of our favorite former Wildcats right in the middle of it.
