The regular season is rapidly approaching its end. With only six games remaining on the schedule, the Philadelphia Phillies are on the verge of securing a first-round bye, which bodes well for Trea Turner and his ailing right hamstring.
While an extra four days off before the National League Division Series on October 4 will be beneficial, Phillies fans should expect Turner to return to the lineup before the end of the 2025 regular season.
To that end, the Phillies shared some encouraging news regarding Turner’s improvement over the weekend in Arizona.

According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, the Phillies expect Turner to play before this weekend. He’ll face live pitching on Tuesday and Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park, with the Phillies sending in minor league pitchers to confront the NL’s hitting leader.
The Phillies will also want to see him at full strength before putting him back into play. Even if Turner isn’t ready for Thursday’s series finale against the Miami Marlins, he should play in one of the weekend games.
The greatest part about this report is that in another week, assuming the Phillies get the first-round bye, there should be little doubt that the All-Star-snubbed shortstop will be ready to go when the NLDS begins.
Turner originally hurt his hamstring on September 7, during the series finale in Miami. He left the game after running a play to first base in the seventh inning. Phillies supporters’ hearts plummeted at the time, and much more so when he was placed on the 10-day injured list the next day.
The only positive news was that it was a Grade 1 strain, which is less dangerous. Turner has been a spark at the top of the lineup, and the Phillies are fortunate that his ailment was not as serious as last year’s strain, which sidelined him for six weeks. Turner is batting.305 this season, with an.815 OPS, 15 home runs, 69 RBIs, 94 runs scored, and 35 stolen bases in 140 games.
The offense hasn’t missed a beat in his absence, as it fueled a September surge that saw the Phillies win the NL East last week while Turner stayed in Philadelphia to recover.
