Although the New York Mets made some fantastic offseason signings, they still need to make some improvements in a few areas. DH and right field are two of the positions.

Chris Landers of FanSided thinks the Boston Red Sox should be called up for their starting DH and outfielder, Masataka Yoshida, who is making a comeback in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, rather than letting Brett Baty be the answer.

“With all due respect to Brett Baty, I’m not sure he’s the answer at either position, and the Mets don’t currently have a strong solution at either right field or DH. Yoshida might switch between the two, elevating the bottom of a New York lineup that is on the verge of becoming somewhat top-heavy. A relocation to Fenway Park might be just what Vientos needs to rekindle a once-promising career, though it’s unclear if the Sox are now interested in him,” Landers said.

Yoshida has hit.282/.337/.425/.762 with 65 doubles, 29 home runs, and 154 RBI in 303 games over his three years with the Red Sox. He is ideal for the DH position because he gets on base and knocks runners in.

Welcome Masataka Yoshida to the Boston Red Sox

He is currently in the fourth year of a $90 million, five-year contract. It looks like a good bargain as long as the Mets are prepared to take on the balance of his contract, which they should be given their reserves.

He might be the final upgrade that puts the Mets ahead in the National League, so hopefully they can work out a trade for him.
