As Kansas State’s head men’s basketball coach, Casey Alexander has signed his first recruit. Atlanta native, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound small forward, has pledged to play for the Wildcats in the upcoming campaign.

In a social media post on Friday, the three-star recruit promised Alexander his services. “New era, I’m in,” it said. His choice was hardly unexpected. After Alexander changed employment, Hutcherson reopened his pledge to play for Alexander at Belmont.

He was once among the top prospects to ever commit to Belmont, will accompany Alexander to the Big 12. He rejected scholarship offers from Mississippi, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State in favor of the Bruins. In recent years, K-State hasn’t given high school recruiters much attention. But now that Alexander is looking for fresh talent, it seems that will be more of a focus.

Since the transfer portal won’t open until April 7, it is too early to predict K-State’s basketball lineup for the upcoming campaign. However, the Wildcats will have some ties to Belmont. After playing for Alexander at Belmont last season, Tyler Lundblade, Sam Orme, Brigham Rogers, and Drew Scharnowski have all declared their intention to join the portal. He will keep an eye on them all going forward.
