There is still work to be done to complete the roster, so rumors about who UNC and Michael Malone will continue to target continue to circulate. Brice Dessert, Mouhamed Saye, and other players at center have recently caught the attention of Carolina supporters.
But is it time to take notice to Luigi Suigo, the big man from Italy? That might be the case. In a recent podcast, Fox Sports Radio host Aaron Torres hinted that Suigi would relocate to Chapel Hill if he withdraws his name from the NBA Draft before the deadline in late May. Whoa.
Regarding UNC’s recruiting, Torres remarked, “I don’t think they’re done by the way.” “I believe they will acquire another big international player.” There is a Luigi (Suigo) child, by the way. I don’t know his last name, he’s 7-2, 7-3, and he’s in the NBA Draft. I don’t think it’s a given that he will go to Carolina, but if he does withdraw out, I don’t think you’re out of it, just Carolina supporters.

This would definitely be something. Suigo is currently going through the NBA Draft process and will be watching to see what kind of feedback he receives. Suigo gets selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round at No. 36 overall in a recent ESPN mock draft.
Would he simply play professional ball the next season if he remains within that range as a second-round pick, or may a college program like Carolina persuade him to reconsider? That is completely unknown, but by the deadline of May 27 at 11:59 p.m. ET, we will know for sure what he does.
Malone added Cade Bennerman for depth after Henri Veesaar left UNC and seemed certain to stay in the draft, and the recruitment of five-star center Sayon Keita continues to generate conversation. Malone still needs to make an impression at the five, even though that’s fantastic. Naturally, Faye or Dessert would be a significant acquisition, but the fact that Suigo may also join the team suggests that Malone is searching around to make sure he’s closely examining a variety of elite players.
