With numerous contenders hoping to bolster their teams, the MLB trade deadline is expected to be an entertaining one. After Adolis Garcia sustained a torn lat, the Phillies will most likely be looking for an impact outfielder.
Due to a ruptured right lat, the Phillies have put outfielder Adolis García on the 60-day injured list. To fill his active roster position, they brought up Gabriel Rincones Jr., an outfielder from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, according to Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors.
The idea that Philadelphia would try to sign a big-name outfielder at the deadline is becoming more and more popular. Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report thinks the Phillies might go all out for Byron Buxton.
However, because Byron Buxton has a no-trade clause, it’s critical that his potential suitors have a genuine possibility of winning and even making it to the World Series. And even without a highly effective offense, the Phillies currently meet both requirements. This alone makes Buxton perfect for the Phillies, and there’s also the issue of center field. Rymer stated, “The expectation was that Justin Crawford would offer stability out there, but he’s performed like yet another replacement-level slacker.”
Buxton’s name kept coming up in trade rumors during the Minnesota Twins’ miserable offseason. He expressed his annoyance publicly because he thought the organization could have put an end to the rumors.
“All it takes is for someone at the top to tell the media, ‘We’re not trading you,'” Buxton stated. “Stop trading rumors.” We no longer have those discussions. This may become as easy as that. However, like I mentioned, it’s different.
Buxton would be a perfect fit for the Phillies, and signing him might provide top prospect Justin Crawford more time to mature. Philadelphia’s outfield would benefit from Buxton’s strong hitting and superior defense.
Buxton presently plays for the Twins with a $100 million contract. He is a perfect fit for Philadelphia, which already has a group that is heavily composed of veterans. Buxton might be the kind of significant signing that enables the Phillies return to the World Series with their present core.
