DJ Miller, a sophomore wide receiver, and new Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey are already getting along, and Minchey isn’t afraid of the impact the 6-foot-3 target can have on the Wildcats’ offense.
As Kentucky continues to develop its offensive identity ahead of the season, Minchey, who transferred from Notre Dame, commended Miller’s combination of size, agility, and confidence.
Minchey tells Wilson Alexander of On3 about exceptional playmakers, “DJ Miller.” “He is the nation’s top receiver. He is incredibly athletic. His size and his perseverance.
During his rookie season, Miller had seven appearances, including three starts, against Auburn, Florida, and Vanderbilt, demonstrating glimmers of that potential. With 13 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns at the end of the season, he demonstrated his ability to be a dependable target in crucial situations.
His career-defining effort against Tennessee, where he caught five passes for 120 yards and two scores, marked his breakthrough. He became one of the youngest players in school history to record a 100-yard receiving game with a 56-yard score and a 28-yard touchdown.
With two touchdown receptions in a single game, Miller tied a school freshman record and joined a group that has included some of Kentucky’s best receivers in recent years.
Coming out of high school, Miller was a four-star recruit and one of Missouri’s top-ranked athletes, finishing with over 1,700 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in his prep career.
Now that Minchey is starting at quarterback, Kentucky’s offense seems to be focusing on the developing relationship between a self-assured passer and a promising sophomore receiver who will have a larger role in 2026.
