Due to a bone bruise within his surgically repaired left knee, Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout will be placed on the 10-day disabled list, manager Ron Washington informed reporters.

Trout suffered the injury during a 9-3 defeat to the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday in Seattle, and Washington made the remarks during the Detroit Tigers’ 10-4 victory against the Angels on Thursday in Anaheim, California.

“He has a bone bruise, so we’re going to put him on the injured list,” Washington informed reporters. “It’s not significant, but he needs rest.”

Trout singled in the first inning of the defeat after undergoing surgery on the same knee the previous year. In the top of the third, he came back to the bat and hit a sinker between first and second base that was 2-1. Before being called out, Trout sprinted down the first base line and used his left foot to grab for the bag.

He was taken out of the game before to his subsequent at-bat, but he returned to right field in the bottom of the inning.

The 33-year-old Trout played in 1,212 of 1,356 games (89.3%) throughout his first nine full seasons in Major League Baseball. From 2021 to 2024, he played in just 226 (34.8%) of the 648 regular-season games that were feasible.

The 11-time All-Star and three-time MVP reached a low point in his career. 179 in his first 29 games this season, with nine home runs and eighteen RBIs. In 2019, Trout extended his deal with the Angels for another 12 years for a total of $426.5 million. Trout receives a salary of $37.1 million year under the agreement, which is valid until 2030.

Six games behind the Mariners (18-12), who lead the division, the Angels (12-18) are in last place in the American League West. At 9:38 p.m. EDT on Friday, they will play the Tigers, who have the best record (20-12) in the American League.
