The Detroit Tigers were one of the hottest teams in baseball last season as they somehow turned on the jets in the last couple of months to win a postseason position. That great energy has continued over to the 2025 season as the Tigers are one of the top teams in Major League Baseball so far. Detroit’s recent power surge is a major factor in the team’s success, which currently stands at 22-13 on the season.
We knew the Tigers would have good pitching going into the season, but the bats were the worry. So far, Detroit has been one of baseball’s best hitting teams, scoring 179 runs, more than all but four teams, and having the best +63 run differential in the league. In addition, Detroit has hit 20 home runs since April 28th, more than any other team, and the scariest part is that the Tigers are only getting started.
According to an MLB.com article, Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter stated on Sunday, “We can do it all.” “And a lot of guys are coming into their own, in my opinion.”
In Sunday’s 13-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels, Kerry Carpenter, one of Detroit’s best batsmen this season, was unstoppable. He went 4-6 with one home run and five RBIs. Carpenter was a triple away from the cycle.
According to Angels manager Ron Washington, “he was hitting everything.” He placed the bat out there and received a base hit after we threw him some offspeed pitches off the plate. He went under the balls we tried to sink on him. He was just on today.
Colt Keith also had a much-needed huge game, despite his struggles at the plate this season. With his second home run of the weekend, he went 2-3.
Keith remarked, “I think we hit fastballs really well as an offense.” It’s a nice stadium to bat in, and this club threw a lot of fastballs. Just putting the barrel on the ball was what we were doing. Here, you don’t need to do much; the balls will take care of themselves. It flies much more effectively during the day.
The best thing of this Tigers group is that the output comes from top to bottom. Detroit has five regulars batting above .270 right now.
Tigers manager AJ Hinch stated, “We have a pretty good offense, and it comes from different places.” A tiny piece of everyone was present today. Who gets the biggest hit or who has the largest at-bat is irrelevant to us. This kind of attack seems to be able to originate from anyplace.
If the Tigers can maintain this kind of production at the plate, their pitching staff will keep them in excellent form throughout the season.
