With nine-figure contracts now becoming the norm for agencies and players to aim for during discussions, it looks like Kyle Schwarber, the designated hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies, may be among the next to reach the $100 million mark.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Schwarber possesses all the necessary resources and components to merit the deal milestone. He believes Schwarber will be one of the players that earn $100 million in the future. It is “eminently reasonable,” according to Passan, for Schwarber to demand a deal worth more than $100 million, with an average yearly value of at least $25 million.
“A nine-figure contract for a designated hitter who will turn 33 on Opening Day? Why is Schwarber an anomaly here as well as in so many other areas? “His productivity is terminal,” Passan wrote. He is an outstanding leader in the clubhouse. No one would object to paying him $25 million year, and a four-year request is very realistic, especially in a class that lacks elite hitters.
Can Kyle Schwarber Get His Wish to Stay in Philadelphia?
Schwarber just signed a four-year contract worth $79 million in guaranteed money with the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2025, Schwarber is expected to make $20 million, according to spotrac.com. He is in the final year of the agreement and is prepared to resume talks.
The Phillies could lose him to free agency at the end of the season, or they could sign him to an extension during the season.
Schwarber stated in February that he intended to remain in Philadelphia. He had hoped for a fresh contract as soon as possible.
“Time will tell,” Schwarber told MLB.com. “I am aware that we have interest. If they come up to us and start talking in depth, we’ll see what happens throughout this camp.
Schwarber believes winning takes care of everything and is the simplest way to earn an extension.
“The best line I have ever heard on that is from Jon Lester,” Schwarber said. “The best way to get paid is to win – so I will just focus on that. It’s what I have always concentrated on.”
Will Phillies Keep Their Veteran Core Together?
In the 2024 National League Division Series, the Philadelphia Phillies fell to the New York Mets, although they came very close. In 2025, Schwarber expects they make further progress.
Schwarber remarked, “I think the pickups we’ve made have been quality.” “Obviously, we lost some excellent individuals, but ultimately, it will be up to us. We are aware that our team is strong.
Schwarber feels the team’s core has been around long enough to win it all this season.

“We’ve had about the same core of players for the last, going on Year 3, Year 4, so we know what we have,” Schwarber said. “I don’t think there’s any shock and I don’t think we’re going to shock anyone else. Everybody is familiar with the lineup, the names of the pitchers, and the names of the players in the bullpen. The only thing left to do is to find out how to travel to our desired destination.
Should Schwarber not sign an extension, he will be one of the most sought-after free agents this winter.
