After a poor postseason exit last autumn, the Philadelphia Phillies made few offensive changes, but there is still time to make a significant one.

The team is under some pressure to make good on World Series aspirations as several members of its star core could be on new teams next season. J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber and Ranger Suarez are all headed to free agency if they aren’t extended first.

Additionally, it could be time to take advantage of some controversy in the Boston Red Sox clubhouse, given the Phillies’ current situation.

Rafael Devers of the Red Sox is dissatisfied with his front office after being asked to switch positions several times. when being switched to a designated hitter position during spring training, he has publicly chastised chief baseball officer Craig Breslow when the organization asked him to play first base.

Regarding Breslow, Devers stated, “I’m not certain what (problem) he has with me,” according to Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald. “He played ball, and I would like to think that he knows that changing positions like that isn’t easy.”

Before Breslow entered the front office, Devers signed a 10-year, $313.5 million contract with the Red Sox, and it’s possible that the two may never get along. The Red Sox could thus think about trading Devers, especially if they can acquire a first baseman in return.

Jake Storiale of “Talkin’ Baseball” was motivated to suggest a trade between the Phillies and Red Sox because of that possibility and the need for an offensive boost in Philadelphia.

“Can you imagine the star power?” Storiale stated this after suggesting that Devers be traded to the Phillies. Bohm did that, and you could add a few of those Phillies pitching prospects or something similar. Since their core is in its early 30s, the Phillies have been searching for the next move to help them advance in the NL.

Storiale went on to say that Bohm provides a vital right-handed bat for their order and would be a suitable alternative for first base in Boston. Additionally, he pointed out that if Schwarber leaves in free agency, the Phillies may take Devers into consideration as a long-term DH.

Although it would be an unexpected blockbuster, there are indications that this move may actually happen. especially if Devers becomes increasingly irritated in Boston.
