The NCAA transfer site has dominated the collegiate basketball headlines this spring. Following a spectacular Final Four in which Florida defeated Auburn and Houston defeated Duke, the season concluded with Florida’s stunning victory in the national title.

The transfer site swiftly became the topic of discussion once the NCAA Tournament concluded. Players all around the nation started looking for new chances and beginnings. Under head coach Mark Pope, Kentucky has been one of the busiest programs this offseason.

One major departure for the Wildcats was Travis Perry. Perry is a player Pope obviously wanted to retain in the lineup, even though Kentucky brought in a slew of new talent.

Pope’s words, “I was devastated when Travis left,” “Mostly because I think he is such a special young man… It was terrible to me personally because I liked teaching him so much, and I think he has a fantastic prospective. I think he was on his way to becoming a legend here at Kentucky.”

Perry committed to Ole Miss last week, where he will play under head coach Chris Beard.

Perry played in 31 games during his one and only season at Kentucky, although he only made four starts. He scored 2.7 points and played 9.7 minutes on average per game.

Perry, a standout player in high school, won Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball award and guided his squad to a state title. With 5,381 points at the end of his prep career, he set a state record.

Perry joins a growing list of transfers heading to Oxford. James Scott and Koren Johnson join from Louisville, and AJ Storr joins after a season at Kansas. From LSU, Corey Chest makes the move.

The gateway did cost the Rebels four players: TJ Caldwell, John Bol, Robert Cowherd, and Ja’Von Benson. Bol is headed to UCF, while Caldwell will continue his career at Arkansas State.
