Fabio Carvalho is likely to join Hull City after Leeds United and Southampton were linked with a transfer for the Portuguese prodigy. The Saints have now shifted their focus to a Leeds target.

After his loan at RB Leipzig was canceled, Carvalho was linked with Leeds and Southampton. The Portugal U21 international was expected to join one of the Championship’s premier teams this month.

However, Liverpool believes he requires more playing time, which is why he has been loaned to Hull City under Liam Rosenior, according to The Mirror. The confirmation is likely within the next 24 hours.

Leeds and Southampton are left licking their wounds and obliged to explore alternative targets. David Brooks is one of them, with the £12 million star one of five Welsh names connected with a January move to Leeds.

Southampton will switch their focus to Bournemouth star Brooks now that they have missed out on a move for Carvalho, according to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, who claimed as much on Twitter yesterday.

Southampton focus on Leeds United aim Mr. David Brooks

Carvalho would have been a fantastic signing for any Championship club, and probably some Premier League clubs as well. So Hull signing him is a coup for Liam Rosenior’s play-off-chasing club.

Southampton and Leeds are still looking for a dynamic attacker, and Brooks is certain to go before the end of the season. Leeds must have a better chance of landing him than Southampton.

This is due to the presence of Wales teammates James, Ampadu, and Rodon – as well as the chance of another Wales player joining Leeds. Connor Roberts, Chris Mepham, and Kieffer Moore are all mentioned.
