Eddie Howe and his Newcastle team’s fortunes have increasingly worsened throughout the 2023/24 season.

At the start of the season, the Magpies were looking forward to the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, as well as improving on their Premier League performance in 2022/23.

The season’s highlight has to be the dramatic defeat of Paris Saint-Germain at St. James’ Park, but since then, things have deteriorated.

Newcastle was eliminated from not only the Champions League, but also Europe, due to important player injuries.

On the verge of another Carabao Cup semi-final, a blunder by Kieran Trippier in the final seconds sent their match against Chelsea to penalties, which the Blues won.

The injuries have subsequently piled up, and the current concern for Callum Wilson is expected to knock £10 million off his value, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the outlet, before his most recent injury, the Magpies were likely to be able to demand between £15m and £20m for his services, but given his age, the fact that he is out of contract next year, and the fact that he has become injury-prone, they are unlikely to be able to get anywhere near that figure.
