According to Football Insider, Vincent Kompany plans to stay at Burnley even if the club is demoted from the Premier League.

The club’s board is said to be displeased with how their comeback to the top division has gone under the Manchester City veteran, but he has enough credit to be retained on.

The board is convinced that Kompany will lead Burnley back to the Premier League following his impressive 101-point haul as Championship winners last season.

The Clarets presently have 13 points, are 11 points behind 17th-place Nottingham Forest, and have the league’s second-worst defensive record.

However, executives are certain that he is the perfect man to lead them back to the Premier League if they are demoted.

They appear to be on track for relegation this season, along with Sheffield United, and have not won three points since a 2-0 away win against Fulham in late December.

Lancashire spent extensively in the summer in their effort to stay in the top division, reportedly paying out more than £90 million in transfer fees.
