Kieran Trippier is Newcastle United’s most recent injury concern.
Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier is hoping his calf injury isn’t too serious after being taken out of the 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon scored in the first half to put the Magpies up 2-0 before Trippier was substituted in the 52nd minute. His substitute, Tino Livramento, added a third in stoppage time.

Eddie Howe, United’s head coach, later stated that Trippier’s condition was a concern. He remarked, “Kieran felt something in his calf and had to leave the pitch. That is a problem for us, but I’m not sure how serious it is right now.”
Trippier shared an update on Instagram, writing: “Great win for the team today. It’s frustrating to go off injured; hopefully nothing too serious.”

Howe’s side now has a nine-day respite before facing Chelsea a week from Monday. Newcastle leads the Blues by four points with a game in hand, as both teams compete for European qualification.

Trippier is scheduled to attend the North East Football Writers’ Dinner this evening, where he will receive his Player of the Year Award.

The 33-year-old has missed only three games this season and will hope that the break between Wolves and Chelsea will be enough for the England international to recover.
