According to Football Insider, Joelinton wants to stay in the Premier League if he is unable to agree on a contract extension with Newcastle United.

The Magpies are expected to sell the Brazilian this summer if they are unable to reach an agreement on a new contract during ongoing negotiations.

Joelinton’s contract is slated to expire in the summer of 2025, and manager Eddie Howe admits that he could have played his final game for Newcastle after suffering a season-ending injury.

According to Football Insider, the 27-year-old believes his playing style is appropriate for the English top flight, and Premier League clubs value his versatility, attitude, and power.

The midfielder last appeared for Newcastle in their 3-0 FA Cup win against archrivals Sunderland on January 6.

The club revealed that he had successful surgery for a thigh injury and would be sidelined for an extended period of time.

Prior to his tragic injury setback, he had three goals and four assists in 23 games in all competitions, including a game-winning assist against Arsenal in early November.

Joelinton was first used as a striker in his first season at St James’ Park, but Howe successfully transformed him into a competent midfielder.

In 180 games since his reported £40 million move from Hoffenheim in 2019, he has 25 goals and 15 assists.

Newcastle are ninth in the Premier League rankings following their 3-0 win over Wolves on Saturday (2 March).

They will next face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night (February 11).
