Eddie Howe has stated that the club has agreed to a one-year deal to retain Jamaal Lascelles on Tyneside for the 2024/25 season.

The skipper was set to be out of contract this summer, but the manager has disclosed that he will stay for at least another year after an extension provision was activated.

Elsewhere, Howe has announced that Lewis Hall will be at Newcastle for “many years,” sealing a £28 million permanent move following his loan-to-buy departure from Chelsea last summer.

“He has a contract with us for next season,” Howe stated of Lascelles, whom he regarded as a “integral” member of his Newcastle United squad.

The conditions of Hall’s permanent move have never been revealed, but it appears that he will stay at St James’ Park despite his lack of playing time, with the 19-year-old regarded as a long-term investment who will pay off.

On Hall, Howe stated, “I’m preparing for Lewis to stay here for many years.” I believe in him. He was brought here for a long time. There is no magic wand; sometimes all you need is patience, which I understand is a precious commodity.
