Vincent Kompany wants to see more from Burnley attacker David Fofana after his outstanding performance against West Ham.

The 23-year-old scored his third goal for the Clarets since signing in January, sending a rocket into the top corner from 25 yards.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to enable Burnley secure a much-needed victory, as the Hammers rallied in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw.

But it wasn’t just the goal that made Fofana stand out; he also led the line brilliantly, fought for every ball, and contributed significantly with his hold-up play during a clear Man of the Match performance.

Kompany was naturally pleased with the Chelsea loanee’s performance, but the Clarets manager knows it can’t be a one-off if his team is to pull off a remarkable survival bid.

“It seems like he’s growing into the season and into the team as well,” the coach remarked.

“We’ll need performances like the one he delivered against West Ham. He was excellent.

“Fofana’s performance was spectacular, and we needed it. Hopefully, he can maintain this level of performance until the end of the season. These are the players who will support us.

“We’ll need more, though. We need more from him, as well as from the entire team. Just keep developing your drive for the next game and keep going.

“We have to remember we always give ourselves a chance when we put in a showing like we did against West Ham.”
