Newcastle United’s next summer transfer window will be significant.

Following a poor season, the Magpies are expected to rebuild. Newcastle’s 2023-24 season has served as a wake-up call, despite the fact that injuries have disrupted their plans significantly.

At the same time, Newcastle is failing to comply with the PSR regulation, which could force them to sell some of their key players next summer.

Eddie Howe does not expect a significant change in the squad, although some players will undoubtedly be transferred out. One of them may be Newcastle legend Callum Wilson.

The 32-year-old striker was linked with a move away from St James’ Park during the January transfer window, with West Ham among the clubs showing interest. The transaction did not materialize in the end.

However, his future could be uncertain next summer, with Magpies scouts reportedly instructed to look for a replacement striker.

According to the Daily Mail, Wilson “will leave before next season,” which means the club will need to find a new striker.

Signing a striker will be a priority for Howe this summer, but the quality of the additions will be determined by the incoming and outgoings elsewhere in the squad.

Wilson joined the Magpies in the summer of 2020 and has made over 100 appearances, scoring 46 goals. This season, he has seven Premier League goals in his eight starts.

He is now out injured after surgery to repair a damaged pectoral tendon and may miss the rest of the season.

Howe grades him highly and describes him as a “incredible” striker. He is under contract at St James’ Park until 2025, but the Magpies will most likely sell him next summer.
