Newcastle United have everything to accomplish in the final ten games of the season, with the next encounter against West Ham being a must-win.
According to Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes, the Toon players have agreed that qualifying for a European competition is the minimum goal at St James’ Park this season.

It remains to be seen whether Bruno’s failure to achieve exactly that will have an impact on his own future, following strong transfer links with Manchester City over the weekend. After losing the FA Cup to Manchester City on Saturday evening, Newcastle now faces a 10-game schedule that will determine if they qualify for the Europa Conference League.

Newcastle’s Bruno told reporters after the game: “It’s been a very difficult season for us, but when we return from the break, we have ten games ahead of us, and the goal is to get the club back into Europe.” We must look ahead to the next game and deliver.

“We now have two home games (against West Ham and Everton), and we need to win as many as possible. I beg that the fans continue to support us because we will do our best for Europe.”

City were too excellent for Newcastle on Saturday night, and they didn’t have to break a sweat to defeat the Magpies. United trailed 2-0 after 32 minutes and squandered opportunities before and after halftime.

Bruno reflected: “Playing against City has always been difficult, and this season has been no exception. We’ve been conceding more goals than we did last season.

“I had some poor luck with the two deflections. We had some chances and should have scored, and failing to score versus City makes things very complicated. These guys are lethal, and they killed the game.”

Bruno’s attention now goes to Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, when he will face teammate Anthony Gordon in a prestige match against England, who are visiting Brazil in an international friendly. He went on to say: “I will focus on the internationals now but then I will come back as strong as possible.”
