Lewis Hall’s stunning cameo against West Ham United was praised by his Newcastle teammates.

Bruno Guimaraes and his Newcastle United teammates praised Lewis Hall’s performance against West Ham United.

Hall was introduced around the hour mark, with the Magpies behind 3-1 after Alexander Isak’s penalty kick was cancelled out by Michail Antonio, Mohammed Kudus, and Jarrod Bowen.

The 19-year-old combined superbly on the left flank with fellow substitute Harvey Barnes, whose brace propelled United to a stunning victory after Isak made it 3-2 with his second penalty of the game.

Hall responded to the result on Instagram, writing, “Wow, what a game! This afternoon, the lads demonstrated excellent character. +3 😍⚫️⚪️”.

And his post sparked a response from other teammates. Jacob Murphy said “Lewy H 😍 proud of you! 💫” and Joe White responded “Love it”. But it was Guimaraes’ reaction that caught the most attention, with the Brazilian merely saying “big player”.

Hall’s debut against the Hammers was only his fourth in 2024, highlighting a difficult start to life on Tyneside.

The left-back arrived on a season-long loan from Chelsea in August, which will be converted into a permanent transfer for an initial £28 million this summer, and Hall has been substituted at half-time in three of his four starts.

Hall hasn’t played much since his last start at AFC Bournemouth away in November, but after impressing with a cameo appearance at Manchester City before the international break, the England youth international is hoping to start Tuesday’s match against Everton.
