Former Oregon and Auburn football quarterback Bo Nix received the ultimate Denver Broncos endorsement: two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback John Elway, who praised the No. 12 overall draft pick.

“I’m excited about the pick,” Elway stated (via Mile High Huddle). “I think it’s an excellent choice for the Broncos. As we discussed, he has played and won a lot of football games. And I’d heard amazing things about him as a kid, so that’s an added bonus.

Nix has also received blessings from non-Broncos personnel. One NFL executive is wagering “heavily” that Nix will succeed in Sean Payton’s plans.

“I’m heavily betting on it [success],” the executive added (source: Bleacher Report). “Bo has experience, enough arm talent, and I believe he will do as coached. Sean Payton’s system is ideal for him. Bo will not deviate as much from the script as Russ planned. Look, I don’t want him to be successful, but I believe he will be legitimate there.”

Nix now has the most important blessings he can have from Sean Payton and now Elway. He’s just one Peyton Manning endorsement away from completing the Broncos holy trifecta (at the moment).

Nix has the wind beneath his wings in Denver, thanks to all of the support he’s received. He’ll be behind a highly paid, but not yet highly productive offensive line. He’ll also have Troy Franklin, his best receiver at Oregon, as one of his top weapons, along with Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and Tim Patrick.

All that remains is the performance on the field. He’s already won the offseason in the Mile High City.
