He revealed on Instagram on Tuesday that he has formally committed to returning to Kentucky basketball.

A 4-star recruit in the class of 2025, redshirted this past season, however at one point his redshirt was nearly lifted while Kentucky was dealing with a number of injuries. 247 Sports put the 6-foot-8, 190-pound wing as high as 33rd in the country.

He informed the Lexington Herald-Leader back in March that he will play in Kentucky again in 2026–2027.

He is now formally committed to his upcoming rookie season.

Speaking at his locker following Kentucky’s victory over Santa Clara in the NCAA Tournament, Hawthorne said he was already looking forward to making his Cats debut.

Hawthorne will now probably face off against Kam Williams for the starting three place in the upcoming campaign. Hopefully, Kentucky’s summer international tour will provide us with a preview of what to anticipate from the West Virginia native.
