You may and have said a lot about Mark Pope’s inadequacies this summer, BBN, but all it takes to turn things around is catching one huge fish. To increase the bar for the upcoming season, Kentucky just needs to find a comparable star to replace the now-maligned Tyran Stokes.

Fans of the Wildcats are all too familiar with the Iowa State forward; not only did the score-first wing scorch Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32, but Cats supporters have been eager to call his name online ever since the transfer site opened.

According to Jacob Polacheck, Kentucky has now formally welcomed the gateway star for a Zoom meeting. The Wildcats appear to be the top program waiting for Momcilovic if he decides to return to college basketball as he continues to test the NBA Draft pool.

Kentucky Making Push for Milan Momcilovic as NBA Draft Decision Nears

Milan Momcilovic is the Big Fish

Momcilovic averaged 17 points per game and had a deadly 48.7% long-range shooting percentage during his junior season with the Cyclones. He is essentially a pure scorer, which is precisely what Kentucky needs to add to a starting lineup that is primarily composed of scorers.

Momcilovic’s seeming one-track mind about the professional level could be the biggest threat to Kentucky’s hopes here. The blue and white, along with other interested parties, appear to be limited in their interaction at this point due to the forward’s desire to be drafted.

Momcilovic has everything he needs to be the go-to player in any high-major squad going into what would be his senior year. The optimistic Cat is now predicted in the mid-to-low second round in all mock drafts, which is helpful.

One more year, namely in Lexington, might be enough to propel his stock into the first round.

A “Get it Done” Guy

Momcilovic is the epitome of a “get it done” man; if you’re Coach Pope, you practically have to do whatever it takes to add a classic piece like this one.

Can you blame me? Perhaps that’s simply the viewpoint of a prejudiced Kentucky supporter who wants a committed scorer on this almost full team. Momcilovic seems designed for a fierce Mark Pope offense, and the blue and white have the means to make it happen given Kentucky’s presumed portion of the remaining NIL funds as a result of losing out on the previously stated Stokes.
