The New York Yankees are currently going through a difficult time.

The Yankees were swept by the Milwaukee Brewers and then lost their series against the Baltimore Orioles after emerging as the top club in the American League after almost a quarter of the season was over. They now have a little bit of a shadow hanging over them as they prepare to play the crosstown rival New York Mets in the highly anticipated Subway Series.

As Chris Kirschner stated for The Athletic, “The New York Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball, but a few concerns are starting to arise for a team that had the best record in the American League as recently as last Friday.”

New York Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza Sees Job Status Speculation

Even if the Yankees are going through a difficult time, they won’t be as motivated to win the series as the Mets, who have become one of the worst teams in baseball after missing the playoffs the previous season and then changing their squad in the offseason.

Carlos Mendoza, the manager of the Mets, has received a lot of attention due to a number of new players and the replacement of the majority of the coaching staff following the disastrous season.

Regarding Mendoza, ESPN’s Jorge Castillo stated, “He’s heard the rampant speculation about his job status.” “He is aware that he could experience what happened to Alex Cora and Rob Thomson, two highly regarded managers who were fired after their big-market, high-payroll Northeast clubs struggled to begin the season.” And he understands that in order for him to stay away from his team, they need to start winning.

David Stearns, president of baseball operations for the Mets, has publicly supported Mendoza and stated that the team had no intention of firing him. He might eventually have to reconsider his mind, though, if the season doesn’t improve.

New York Yankees Superstar Aaron Judge Sends Carlos Mendoza Message Before New York Mets Series

However, it seems that slugger Aaron Judge of the Yankees franchise is still certain that Mendoza is the best candidate for the Queens position.

Judge said to Kirschner prior to the Subway Series, “They have a great manager with (Mendoza) over there.” “They have an excellent pitching staff and lineup. It’s baseball.

Since Mendoza was a member of the Yankees’ coaching staff from 2009 to 2023, Judge has a personal connection to the Mets captain. The Mets may be forced to let go of Mendoza in the near future, despite the fact that few would contest his managerial abilities.
