The Duke Blue Devils, led by head coach Jon Scheyer, have secured the top seed in the NCAA Tournament for March Madness.

The Blue Devils ended the season with a 32-2 record following an outstanding regular season and ACC title victory. They are among the country’s leading contenders for the National Championship going into the competition.

Although receiving the top seed is usually a good beginning, Duke will have a difficult journey ahead of them.

The Blue Devils might play teams like No. 2 UConn, No. 3 Michigan State, and No. 4 Kansas just to advance past their first round. On their side of the bracket, there are many other excellent clubs and top-tier head coaches.

In light of this, a former NBA player has issued a harsh warning to Duke prior to the tournament.

Wally Szczerbiak expressed his thoughts on the subject. According to CBS Sports, he believes the Blue Devils have the hardest path in the tournament.

“I think Duke has the roughest road. “It’s not even close,” Szczerbiak remarked. “That isn’t a prize for the top seed overall.”

Duke must demonstrate that it is the top team in the nation despite the challenging path ahead. The Blue Devils would have already faced a barrage of elite teams if they had at least made it to the Final Four.

Duke shouldn’t be afraid of any opponent when it comes to pure talent. With their strong lineup, the Blue Devils should have a good opportunity to win the championship this year.

Who Are Duke’s Key Players Entering the NCAA Tournament?

Cameron Boozer is the star of the gifted Duke squad. Boozer, who is widely anticipated to be selected in the top three of the 2026 NBA Draft, will have a lot of responsibility throughout the competition.

Boozer has averaging 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game this season. He has also shot 56.5 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from three-point range.

The explosive guard for the Blue Devils, Isaiah Evans, is the team’s second-highest scorer. This season, he has averaged 14.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

Duke will have a coaching advantage or at the very least a wash with any opponent if Scheyer leads the way. He is one of the top college basketball head coaches.

Having said that, the Blue Devils will play No. 16 Sienna on Thursday at 2:50 p.m. ET to begin their optimistic NCAA Tournament run. The game will be available for fans to watch on CBS.
