On Thursday morning, April 30, first-year head coach Casey Alexander signed transfer Timotej Malovec (Ivanka Pri Dunajl, Slovakia/Miami), completing his roster for the 2026–27 men’s basketball season.

A 6-foot-8, 214-pound forward from Ivanka Pri Dunaji, Slovakia, played for head coach Jai Lucas at Miami during the previous season. As a true freshman, he participated in 33 games with two starts for a Hurricane team that won 26 games and made it to the NCAA Tournament. He made at least one triple in 18 games, including a season-high four on three occasions, and tied for second place on the team in 3-point field goals (37).

Malovec scored in 21 of the 33 games that were played, including four games when he scored in double figures. On December 6, he scored a season-high 16 points against Southern Miss, making five of eleven field goals and four three-pointers. On November 10 and December 13, he scored 12 points apiece against Stetson and ULM. He averaged 4.2 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 14.9 minutes per game during the season. He made 35 percent of his field goals (43-of-123) and 33.3 percent of his 3-pointers (37-of-11).

Malovec has played about 200 games with seven teams from Slovakia, Greece, and Serbia in seven leagues. He is a member of the Slovakian U16 and U18 National Teams. In the ABA League First Division, he most recently participated in 67 games over two seasons (2023–2025) with Mega Superbet (BC Mega MIS Beograd). In 32 games for the team in 2024–2025, he averaged 6.5 points on 56.7 percent shooting, including 37.4 percent from 3-point range, along with 3.2 rebounds in 25.9 minutes per game.

On March 17, 2025, Malovec’s Mega Superbet team faced off against current Wildcat Andrej Kostic’s Crvena Zvezda team; Kostic did not participate.

In August 2025, Malovec was a standout player for the Slovakian National Team during the European Pre-Qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup. He averaged a team-high 22.5 points on 43.3 percent (26-of-60) shooting, including 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from 3-point range, with 7.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. In the final match on August 20, he scored 28 points against Ukraine.

Malovec is the 10th player from the transfer portal and the 12th overall to sign with the Wildcats this spring. He is Slovakia’s first athlete at K-State.
