There seems to be more evidence that the Halos are prepared to sell starting pitchers Jose Soriano and Reid Detmers before the 2026 trade deadline now that John Mozeliak is familiar with the Los Angeles Angels.
Mozeliak has begun to sound like a player who will be around after this season. The way Mozeliak has discussed reorganizing the front office suggests that he will be a voice of influence going forward, even if he isn’t the general manager.
In light of this fact, it is reasonable to question whether the Angels will truly be in the middle of their deadline ambitions. If an interim general manager knows they won’t be around much after the season ends, it can be hard for them to start a fire sale. However, it’s likely that the Angels will be the main topic of discussion around the deadline if Mozeliak’s relationship with them is solid.
Detmers and Soriano might not be transferred before the deadline, but there seems to be a rising chance that at least one of them will be dealt.
Reid Detmers’ deadline comments suggests the Angels’ morale may not be lost
The personal factor may be missed since the deadline is so near. There are participants whose life are about to be upended, which can elicit a variety of emotions. It’s reasonable to question whether that fear has infiltrated the clubhouse given the drama that has surrounded the Angels in recent years.
When asked about the likelihood of being traded, Detmers said, “It sounds like the Angels have stuck together in the clubhouse throughout all the turmoil.”
Detmers remarked, “I try not to think about it.” “Obviously, it’s quite difficult to try to ignore it, but it is what it is.” I mean, I’m not really able to do anything. I’m here right now, and my main goals are to be here and support the team’s victory.
It may seem a bit corny, but this is an Angels club with a general manager who has already been fired, a manager who will soon be fired, and an owner who might not really care about the team’s on-field performance. Not to mention playing in front of supporters who frequently demand that the team be sold.
If Detmers had proclaimed his wish to flee from the Angels, no one would have objected, but sadly, he said all the right things.
