Auburn has added another piece to its roster, securing a commitment Thursday from Utah State transfer guard, who received an additional season of eligibility following a recent court ruling involving NCAA eligibility rules.
King, a Pompano Beach, Florida, native, told On3’s Joe Tipton on Thursday night that he will join the Tigers. The guard appeared in 36 games for Utah State during the 2025-26 season, averaging 7.5 points in 19.2 minutes per contest.
Auburn will become King’s fifth college program in five seasons. He began his career at St. John’s in 2022-23, averaging 7.7 minutes per game before entering the transfer portal after Rick Pitino took over for Mike Anderson.
King subsequently transferred to Tulane, where he became a bigger contributor, playing 31 games with 23 starts while averaging 10.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. After another portal move, he joined Butler and averaged 5.6 points in 18.9 minutes across 34 appearances.
Utah State appeared to be the final chapter of King’s college career until a Colorado judge issued an injunction directing that the NCAA’s age-based eligibility guidelines be applied to Class of 2022 student-athletes. Although the NCAA has declined to apply the ruling retroactively, the decision opened the door for King to receive another season.
That opportunity will now take him to the SEC, where he will join an Auburn squad coming off a 22-16 season and an NIT championship during Steven Pearl’s first year at the helm.
