Gary O’Neil is hoping to add a new striker to his Wolves side this month, and he couldn’t do worse than sign Michy Batshuayi.

Wanderers have started the season very well, despite the fact that most people expected them to struggle after losing a number of key players, notably Julen Lopetegui, just days before the start of the new season.

But O’Neil has shocked many people, as Wolves are presently 11th in the table with 28 points.

As a result of this start, Wolves don’t need to accomplish much this month, especially given the need to be cautious with Profit and Sustainability criteria.

But we know O’Neil wants a new striker, and the loan departures of Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva have just added to that requirement.

Several names have been mentioned this month, such Danny Ings and Hugo Ekitike, but Wolves could consider Michy Batshuayi, who has been linked with the club previously.

Michy Batshuayi should be considered for a transfer by the Wolves.

There are suggestions that Rangers are interested in Batshuayi, who is currently playing for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

He’s been there since 2022, after leaving Chelsea on loan multiple times.

Batshuayi joined the Blues for £33 million but was unable to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge.

Batshuayi is currently in another tough predicament in terms of game time.

The star has only been in the Super Lig 11 times for a total of 227 minutes. His chances have tended to come more frequently in the Europa Conference League.

Despite playing only 867 minutes this season (in all competitions), Batshuayi has managed to score eight goals for the club.

His overall record with the club is quite impressive, with 28 goals in 53 games.

Wolves were connected with a move for Batshuayi several times in 2022, with one report claiming that Wolves were looking to sign the player on loan from Chelsea ahead of the 2022/23 season, and that an offer was made.

Is he approachable?

Batshuayi’s deal at Fenerbahce expires at the end of the season. However, the Turkish behemoths have the option to extend it for another year.

But, according to Fotomac, the club’s president informed the player, “If you want to stay, there is a place for you at Fenerbahce.” However, if you’re going to be restless in the dugout, it impacts the squad. Please notify us of your final decision as soon as feasible.”

That means Batshuayi could leave this month if he chose to and a good offer was given. He would very certainly contemplate returning to the Premier League as he strives to reach Belgium’s Euro 2024 squad later this year.

Wolves making a move makes sense. Batshuayi is 30 years old, has a lot of experience, and has played in numerous leagues throughout his career.

He has proved that despite little playing time, he can score goals, and he definitely has Premier League experience, having played on loan for Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Wolves have been connected with him multiple times in recent years, and this could be the ideal time to bring him in.
