The Premier League has revealed the officials for Newcastle United’s game against Luton Town at St James’ Park.
The Premier League match between Newcastle United and Luton Town on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm) will be refereed by Thomas Bramall.

Bramall, who will be promoted to Premier League referee in 2022, has only officiated the Magpies once previously, in their 2-0 victory against Burnley at St James’ Park in September, when he gave a penalty to Alexander Isak after Anthony Gordon was fouled by Ameen Al-Dakhil.

The position of a referee is frequently scrutinized throughout the season, but Bramall has largely avoided negative attention, with the exception of sending off Liverpool midfielder Alexis MacAllister in August for a challenge on AFC Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie.

Liverpool successfully challenged the red card, and Mac Allister appeared in a 2-1 win over Newcastle seven days later.

Speaking about Mac Allister’s firing, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “I think the number of times I was asked about it shows it’s worth discussing again, which we will probably do.” “When I asked Macca, he answered, ‘I touched him but not really’. That is all he told me.

“After the game, I got it back. I believe if you have a list of criteria, what we need to award a red card for is contact; there is nothing else, no other boxes checked.

“It’s a decision we all agree on; if he gives a yellow card, VAR will not overturn it, and if he gives a red card, VAR will not overturn it since contact does not indicate a clear and apparent error.

“But now, the punishment is sufficient: 40 minutes with ten men. But first, we need to speak with the authorities.”

Bramall will be aided by Mat Wilkes and Mark Scholes, with Michael Salisbury and Akil Howson on VAR duty. The fourth official is Oliver Langford.
