Newcastle United have had numerous injury issues this season, but it appears like things are finally starting to go their way.

Eddie Howe has dealt with some terrible injuries. Freak accidents have cost him vital players, and it appeared he had lost another during the 3-2 loss to Chelsea.

Anthony Gordon was forced to leave with a knee injury, and there were concerns after the game that it was serious. There were even concerns that his season might be over.

However, such will not be the case.

Anthony Gordon has avoided a serious injury

According to the Daily Mail, Gordon has not sustained a significant knee injury.

They claim that there has been swelling since the game against Chelsea, and that he might be back in Newcastle training within the next three days.

That is fantastic news, but it also means that his aspirations for England are not gone. According to the Daily Mail, the FA has contacted Newcastle regarding Gordon’s injury, and Gareth Southgate is poised to announce his current England team today.

Despite the recent scare, the 23-year-old remains determined to attend the Euros this summer.

As well as Anthony Gordon, two more senior players have not been spotted in Newcastle's training

But most importantly for Toon supporters, his season is not done. Gordon has been our finest player during this difficult season. Alan Shearer described him as ‘simply magnificent’, with ten goals and seven assists in all competitions. He has been so consistent for the Magpies that completing the season strong without him would have been extremely difficult.

Fortunately, it appears that this knee damage is not serious. Now we’ll see if he has a chance to play in the FA Cup against Manchester City on Saturday night.
