Newcastle United’s FA Cup aspirations for this year are on the line against Manchester City on Saturday night, and Chris Sutton is not expecting the Toon Army to be rejoicing come full time.

As is customary for Newcastle United this season, they received the most difficult draw conceivable. Their reward for defeating Blackburn Rovers in the previous round was an away match against FA Cup holders Manchester City.

Eddie Howe brings his team to a venue where they have only won once before. That happened back in 2014, when Alan Pardew was manager.

Newcastle have a horrible away record against Manchester City, and it looks like it will get even worse on Saturday night.

Paul Merson has already predicted that Newcastle will be eliminated from the FA Cup this Saturday, and Chris Sutton agrees.

Sutton has made predictions for BBC Sport, and he believes Manchester City will beat Newcastle 3-1.

“Liverpool gave Manchester City a bit of a going over at times in the second half at Anfield last weekend – but I just don’t see Newcastle doing the same to them at the Etihad,” added the former Liverpool player.

“Pep Guardiola always performs well in the FA Cup, and even with Kevin de Bruyne out injured, City will be difficult to stop. Erling Haaland, who scored five against Luton in the previous round, is expected to score again.
