Newcastle United great Alan Shearer believes Eddie Howe will continue in charge at St James’ Park.

Alan Shearer feels Eddie Howe has enough ‘credit in the bank’ at Newcastle United to stay in charge regardless of what happens this season.

On Saturday evening, the Magpies were defeated 2-0 at Manchester City, ending their FA Cup run. It leaves Howe’s side with only the Premier League to play for after being eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage and reaching the quarter-finals of the two domestic cup competitions.

Newcastle is 10th in the table with 10 games remaining and will face seventh-placed West Ham United at St James’ Park on March 30 (12:30pm kickoff). A victory for The Magpies would allow them to overtake The Hammers in the table moving into the final two months of the season.
After saving Newcastle from relegation in 2021-22, Howe led the team to fourth place and a Carabao Cup final in his first full season in charge. However, the current season has been marred by a tight match schedule and various injury difficulties involving important players.
