Amanda Staveley, Newcastle United’s co-owner, has reacted to the women’s side’s successive promotions.
Amanda Staveley rushed to social media to express her ‘big congrats’ to the Newcastle United Women’s team on their promotion.

Newcastle United Women won the Women’s National League Premier Division North title on Sunday, defeating Huddersfield Town 10-0 at Kingston Park. Becky Langley’s side, which went full-time last summer, has been promoted for the second time in a row.

It was a courageous decision to become a full-time outfit as a third-tier. The Lady Magpies achieved promotion with two games to spare, dropping only five points all season. They also made it to the FA Women’s National League Cup final, but lost 2-1 to Hashtag United.

Next season, Newcastle will compete in the Women’s Championship, England’s second tier of women’s football.

Since Staveley became Newcastle’s co-owner in 2021, the women’s team has formally rejoined the club and seen tremendous improvement both on and off the pitch. Langley’s team has played multiple games at St James’ Park, setting women’s attendance records with crowds of over 20,000.

Following her recent achievement, Staveley wrote on Instagram, “What can I say!? Absolutely incredible performance.

“This team is only becoming stronger, and there’s no stopping them now! Congratulations to everyone involved in this special game and season; this is well deserved 🖤🤍 #howaythelasses.

Newcastle’s promotion to the Women’s Championship might mean they face Sunderland Women in the league next season. Sunderland are currently vying for promotion to the Women’s Premier League and are second in the table, two points behind leaders Crystal Palace, with two games remaining, including a final-day match at Selhurst Park.
