After a month-long hiatus, Mike Trout made his comeback to the starting lineup over the weekend, and the struggling Los Angeles Angels will greatly benefit from his presence. Trout has one of the strongest baseball resumes, having been named an MVP three times and an All-Star eleven times. Injuries are the only thing preventing him from being considered one of the best players of all time.

Since 2022, Trout has not played in more than 100 games. Just once throughout the previous five years. Trout’s health failed him long before his abilities deteriorated, and he has suffered from a number of illnesses. Over the past six years, it has been one of the sport’s most regrettable and annoying plotlines.

Trout was a regular in the right field lineup before to his injury in late April. He played every game, acting as the all-around superstar the Angels sorely need. Ron Washington was obliged to take severe, long-overdue action when he was injured once more.

After a lengthy 162-game season, the Angels are finally putting Trout in bubble wrap and going above and above to keep him safe. When the Angels face the Boston Red Sox on Monday, he won’t be in the starting lineup. Today is a planned day off.

Angels finally play it safe with Mike Trout after latest injury

Trout has been DH in both of his first two games back, in addition to the rest he was supposed to get on Monday. To lessen his workload on the field, the Angels shifted him to right field this season, although playing any outfield position in Major League Baseball still requires a great deal of mobility. As Los Angeles looks to hold onto its greatest bat, putting Trout in the DH more frequently, or possibly full-time, is the obvious next step.

Trout’s early post-injury returns are encouraging. In Saturday’s 7-5 defeat against the Cleveland Guardians, he went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run. He has lost two games in a row and is 4-for-9. With just 31 games played, Trout has a.200 season average, a.746 OPS, and nine home runs. Trout’s swing is still powerful even though he is still getting his legs under him. This is a man who is rapidly moving in the correct way.

Los Angeles needs as much assistance as possible. The Angels offense has been kept alive by guys like Zach Neto, Logan O’Hoppe, and Taylor Ward, but Trout is a game-changing force. With his little swing and explosive power, he is one of the few players who can elevate an entire lineup on his own. The Angels need Trout to come back to his superstar ways now more than ever because Ron Washington’s seat is growing hot and the team as a whole is in a state of disarray.

The Angels will gradually begin to move back up the standings if Trout can remain healthy and deliver, which is something that is quite likely to happen as long as he is healthy. Any team should not be written out at this early stage of the season, much less the Angels, especially if Mike Trout is healthy.
