The Seattle Mariners have caught fire at the right time, winning four of their past five games while taking the first two matchups of their series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

With the Mariners preparing for Wednesday’s series finale, manager Dan Wilson has made a notable adjustment to the starting lineup as Seattle continues its push in a tightly contested American League playoff race.

Mariners Make Notable Randy Arozarena Lineup Change

One of the biggest changes involves outfielder Randy Arozarena, who will slide out of the leadoff position and return to the No. 2 spot in the batting order.

Arozarena remains in left field, but Taylor Ward will move into the leadoff role for Wednesday’s matchup.

Seattle’s lineup will feature Ward hitting first, followed by Arozarena, Julio Rodríguez, Cal Raleigh, Patrick Wisdom, J.P. Crawford, Win Wilson, José Pereda and Ben Williamson Rodden. Bryan Woo is scheduled to take the mound for the Mariners.

Should the Seattle Mariners re-sign Randy Arozarena?

Arozarena Continues Strong 2026 Season

Arozarena has been one of Seattle’s most consistent offensive contributors during his eighth MLB season and third campaign with the Mariners. His performance also earned him his second consecutive All-Star selection.

Through 124 games and 460 at-bats, Arozarena is hitting .274 with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs. He has also posted a .465 slugging percentage and an .837 OPS, providing valuable production in the middle of Seattle’s lineup.

Mariners Still in Playoff Hunt

Seattle began the season with legitimate expectations of contending in the American League, given the talent across its roster. However, the Mariners entered Wednesday with a 64-69 record.

Despite sitting below .500, Seattle remains within striking distance in a surprisingly open AL playoff race. The Mariners are only 2.5 games behind the Houston Astros for first place in the AL West and sit three games outside the Wild Card picture.

With the club gaining momentum, Wilson’s lineup adjustments could prove important as the Mariners attempt to keep their postseason hopes alive.
