Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class lost a member on Tuesday night, when 4-star defensive lineman Kalen Edwards stated in a message on X, the social networking platform formerly known as Twitter, that he was reopening his pledge.
Edwards had been committed to Hugh Freeze and the Tigers since late November, when the 4-star defensive line prospect committed to Auburn only two days after an unofficial visit at the 2023 Iron Bowl.

Now, Edwards will consider all of his choices.

“I want to take this time to see what’s out there and what’s best for me and my family,” Edwards said in a statement.

247Sports ranks Edwards as the eighth-best prospect in Tennessee and the 32nd-best defensive lineman in the 2025 class. He currently has 15 offers.

While Auburn was the Power 5 institution to offer Edwards in January 2023, he has since received offers from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia, Ole Miss, and, most recently, Florida.

With Edwards gone, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked eighth in the country, with seven commits, including defensive linemen Malik Autry and Jourdin Crawford, both 4-star prospects.
