The most recent Sunderland news and transfer rumors from around the web as the Black Cats prepare for their upcoming trip to Cardiff City.

Uruguayan attacker Luciano Rodriguez, who was linked with Sunderland last year, is reportedly valued at about £11.8 million, with interest from clubs across Europe.

It was reported in November of last year that Sunderland’s head of recruitment, Stuart Harvey, was in South America to watch Rodriguez. At the time, Alan Nixon of the Sun stated that the Black Cats were considering an ambitious approach for the 20-year-old, who has made 41 senior games for Uruguayan club Liverpool Montevideo.

Four months later, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims the City Football Group has ‘clear and serious interest’ in Rodriguez but will not pay more than $15 million (£11.8 million) for the player. It has also been reported that Dutch club Feynoord has been watching the forward since January.
