CJ Egan-Riley, who was loaned by Burnley to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, could return to Turf Moor in the coming months.

According to Eindhovens Dagblad, as recounted by Voetbal Primeur, the Eredivisie side has ‘not yet taken a decision’ on what to do with the player.

It is revealed that in his first few games for Jong PSV, which is essentially their U21 team, the Burnley loanee did ‘not quite meet the sports quality’ expected of him.

Egan-Riley’s loan arrangement with PSV contained a buy option, but it’remains to be seen’ whether it is activated.
It appears that the Dutch club had certain expectations of the Burnley player that he has failed to satisfy, which may have an impact on his future at the club.

Egan-Riley was recruited on a free transfer from Manchester City’s U21s in 2022 and spent the second part of the previous season on loan at Hibernian FC in Scotland.

He has made seven appearances in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie with Jong PSV and hasn’t contributed an assist or scored a goal, which is comparable to what he has produced at Burnley thus far far, with just six appearances to date.
