Chris Wood, a Nottingham Forest striker, is currently in excellent form, having scored 12 goals so far this season.

Wood joined the City Ground from Newcastle in January 2023, initially on loan and then permanently following three starts.

The 32-year-old talisman was added to compete with Taiwo Awoniyi. The Nigerian was injured at the time, and his experience influenced Forest’s decision to sign him.

Wood struggled last season, scoring only one goal and missing the final six games due to a thigh injury.

Wood scored against Tottenham yesterday, but after missing a chance, Lineker criticized him and felt sympathy for the striker.

Now, some intriguing accusations have been made at Wood @ Forest, and it appears that some members of the club have misgivings.

Report makes claim about Nottingham Forest signing of Chris Wood

It’s difficult to criticize Wood this season, and without his goals, it’s impossible to imagine where Forest would rank in the Premier League table.

Wood has scored a variety of goals and presently has more shots on target than any other striker in the Premier League.

According to The Athletic, Wood has not always had a smooth ride at Forest, and some of the leadership were apprehensive when he signed.

Wood was scouted by Steve Cooper and joined at the same time as Jonjo Shelvey, who has since signed with Rizespor in Turkey.

It’s reported that this time last year, with Wood having only scored once and suffering a season-ending injury, several on the board were seriously concerned about him.

Now, he’s abandoned that concept, and Wood is a great player in the Forest’s ranks.

Is Chris Wood now ahead of Taiwo Awoniyi even when he’s fit?

If the talisman can get himself in shape, this will be the most important question of the campaign.

Awoniyi has been the club’s number one striker since his arrival, but his injury record has been average at best since then.

Wood has taken things in stride since replacing Awoniyi, and he is currently hammering in goals for pleasure.

The Nigerian striker has a physical presence that Wood may lack, and he alters Forest’s traditional style of play.

However, right now it’s all about goals, and as a result, Wood appears to have overtaken Awoniyi as Forest’s number-one striker.

If the Reds can avoid relegation, it will be interesting to see what happens with Forest’s strikers next season.
