Following what appeared to be a lost season for David Bakhtiari, the Green Bay Packers need to find players who will complement Jordan Love on the field. Fortunately, offensive tackle Rasheed Walker is more than willing to step up.

Bakhtiari’s history of ailments and large contract make him a risk for the Packers. Walker, on the other hand, demonstrated what he could do if given the opportunity during the Packers’ outstanding season last year.

With Bakhtiari out by Week 2, Walker stepped up to the challenge for Green Bay. Even though he shared that position with Yosh Nijman by Week 8, Walker emerged as a more valuable member of the team.

Given his improvement last season, one could argue that he outperformed Love’s breakout performance. Even two-time Pro Bowler Elgton Jenkins sees the possibility of Walker starting for the Packers later this year.

Walker is likely to start ahead of Bakhtiari and Nijman due to his young age and plenty of room to grow over time. If it happens, all of his efforts will be justified soon.

Amidst all of the attention on Walker, the offensive tackle recognizes he needs to do more for his team. According to Walker in a story published on the Packers’ official website:

“It’s never enough,” he said. “Always gotta do more. But as long as I’m on the field, I’m gonna do what I’ve gotta do,” Walker said.

With another leap expected next season, Green Bay has every reason to put their belief in Walker. With Bakhtiari’s uncertain future with the squad, it makes sense for him to play a more major role shortly.
